Why the iPad Is My New Laptop — Shawn Blanc
Shawn wrote the post I plan to once I am able to sell my iMac and original 11-inch Air, and replace them with a souped-up 13-inch Air.
The iPad has come a tremendously long way in just two years, and as a PR rep for AgileBits and freelance writer, it serves almost all my needs and adds the advantages Shawn lays out well. There’s just something about being able to work, read, write, and get to everything I need while laying in the middle of a park with nary a hotspot around.
I’d also like to add the film and TV studios finally getting on board with iCloud for iTunes streaming as the final nail in the coffin for my iMac. I no longer need it as a media server for nearly all of our TV watching.
I hate having to pack my Macbook Air, iPad and iPhone with me when I travel. But I’m still hesitant to wean off the productivity that comes with the Air (email, drop box, presos). One of these days I’ll have to try to do without and just see if the iPad can suffice.
